- Black Canadian Hikers @blackcanadianhikers is a community promoting representation in the outdoors and encouraging Black Canadians to explore nature. This group serves Toronto and is worth the trip from Hamilton! Check out their upcoming events on Eventbrite.

Black Youth Mentorship Program by the Hamilton Centre for Civic Inclusion, @bymphamilton.
Nurturing the talents and passions of Hamilton’s Black youth through mentorship and collaboration.
"The Black Youth Mentorship Program is focused on providing support to Black youth aged 13-25 in the Hamilton area. We work to bridge the gaps between needed supports and youth that are unable to access them. Supports include providing programming, connection, and resources pertaining to Black mental health, 2SLGBTQIA+ focuses and safe spaces, arts programming, social drop-in sessions, as well as peer mentorship, academic-based workshops, and any other areas where Black youth in Hamilton may feel as though there are disparities or barriers to receiving adequate support."

In the Field: Environmental Education
“Field Research in Ecology and Evolution Diversified (FREED) is a grassroots organization that increases access to field research, outdoor and naturalist experience, community building, and career mentorship for Indigenous, Black, and/or Racialized (BIPOC) students. Our focus is on ecology, evolution, and conservation biology with far-ranging impacts across fields. Our aim is to provide students with a rigorous and safe field work foundation to be a competitive candidate to advance in their chosen career.”
