Why work with us?
We are an established and impactful non-profit environmental organization that inspires and equips Hamilton residents to take individual and collective action to preserve our natural environment, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and build a community resilient to climate change. We operate out of EcoHouse – an 1850s farmhouse in east Hamilton with 2 acres of gardens and sustainable living demonstrations. Our team is focused on making positive environmental action happen every day and we use creativity, practical tools, and demonstrating environmental action to engage our community and achieve our mission.

We are committed to being a living wage employer, and are certified with the Ontario Living Wage Network. This network calculates the living wage in each region of Ontario based on the cost of living for the area. In Hamilton, the living wage is $22.60/hr (2026). We also invest in staff growth and wellness by providing professional development opportunities, a flexible work culture, benefits, and paid time off.
Green Venture is committed to equity and diversity in the workplace, and to achieving the 50 - 30 Challenge targets. As part of this commitment, Green Venture actively encourages applications from Indigenous people, racialized people, people with disabilities, people who have recently immigrated, and people who identify as 2SLGBTQIA+. We are committed to a selection process and work environment that is inclusive and low barrier, and we encourage applicants to self-identify as a member of an equity-deserving group if they wish to do so.
Green Venture is an equal opportunity employer and we will accommodate any needs under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and the Ontario Human Rights Code to the point of undue hardship. Please email [email protected] with any questions or to request an accommodation.
Please note: EcoHouse is a heritage building located on steep, uneven terrain, with several sets of stairs and no elevator. A ramp and accessible entrance and washroom were added in 2025, however, the path connecting the ramp to street level is uphill and unpaved. Green Venture offers all-terrain wheelchairs for use on-site, and continues to work towards accessibility improvements.
We recognize that potential candidates may not apply for a position if they don’t meet every single qualification – particularly members of underrepresented groups. If you are excited about a role, but your experience doesn’t align with every qualification in the job posting, we still encourage you to apply and tell us about yourself in your cover letter. We sincerely thank all applicants, however, we are only able to directly contact those selected for an interview.
