Windermere Mini Forest Stewardship
Help us tackle stewardship tasks at Windermere Basin Mini Forest! There are two forests planted here, one in 2021 and one in 2023, both need lots of stewardship. There are many different types of plant species and wildlife at this park. Tasks will include invasive species removal and weed removal. This event is taking place on Wednesday, May 28th, starting at 5pm and running until 6:30pm with the option to stay longer. Meet at Windermere East Park (105 Eastport Drive, Hamilton, ON) in the gravel parking lot and we will walk together to the site.
What to wear: Be sure to wear closed-toed shoes, long pants, a sunhat, sunscreen, and bring lots of water. There is no washroom on site and no access to water. This site is loud and has little shade. We will provide tools, gloves, bags, and anything else we may need, but please feel free to bring your gloves and tools.
Transportation + Parking: This site is best accessed by vehicle, however you can take bus 11 to Beach Boulevard and walk. To avoid walking on Eastport you can access the park from the south at the "Windermere Basin Park Pedestrian Access".
