Big shout out to Mohawk College Environmental Technician students for their successful CityLab project!
City Lab project compiles GIS database of Green Infrastructure/Low Impact Development assets on City of Hamilton property
We were thrilled to work a team of Mohawk College Environmental Technician students and the Watershed Management team at the City of Hamilton on a CityLab project. The students compiled a GIS database of Green Infrastructure/Low Impact Development (LID) assets, including over 50 LID sites developed by Green Venture on public land.
The project also included developing an ArcGIS Story Map, and 123Survey tool, which will help the City of Hamilton identify, monitor, manage and maintain LIDs across the City, and as part of O.Reg 588/17, work to include LIDs in City Asset Management planning.
We are looking forward to collaborating on Part 2 of the project potentially coming in the Fall 2025 semester. CityLab students will help assess the condition and measure the impacts of Low Impact Development sites in Hamilton, particularly rain gardens, green roofs and bioswales.
