Rain Barrels: Why should you get one?
Learn about why you should purchase a rain barrel to manage your stormwater!
Why Rain Barrels?
Rain barrels offer a simple yet effective way to conserve water and reduce runoff. By collecting rainwater, they provide a free and sustainable source of water for gardens, lawns, and even household chores like washing cars. This reduces the strain on municipal water supplies and helps mitigate flooding and erosion caused by excessive runoff.
Rainwater diversion is a key part of Green Venture’s activities. Through depave and home rebate programs that promote stormwater management, roughly 450,000 gallons of rainwater is diverted from Hamilton’s stormwater system.
Secondly, promoting the use of rain barrels encourages sustainable practices among community members. It fosters a sense of responsibility towards water conservation and empowers individuals to take tangible actions to protect the environment.
